UK Queercore Duo Death Goals Unleash Fierce New Single “Tchotchke” featuring HIRS COLLECTIVE — New EP ‘Survival Is An Act Of Defiance’ lands August 29
In a blistering return to form, UK mathcore/post-hardcore/punk/metalcore aka queercore duo Death Goals are back with their most politically-charged and emotionally raw material to date. Today, they drop the explosive new single “Tchotchke”, featuring Jenna Pup of the iconic THE HIRS COLLECTIVE—a razor-edged anthem confronting the fetishisation of queer bodies and identities.
“Tchotchke” the first taste of their upcoming EP ‘Survival Is An Act Of Defiance’, is a gut-punch of fury, vulnerability, and unapologetic truth. With guest vocals that sear through a wall of distortion, the track is both a call-out and a cry of resilience, tackling the often-unspoken microaggressions queer people face in so-called safe spaces.
“Tchotchke is about the queer experience of being fetishised by members of the heterosexual community, » the band explains. “Queer people don’t exist to be objects of lust; we deserve love just as much as anybody else.”
Set for self-release on August 29, ‘Survival Is An Act Of Defiance’ is a sonic act of protest—written throughout 2024 and recorded by Tom Hill at The Bookhouse Studio in London. The EP follows 2023’s ‘A Garden Of Dead Flowers’ and pushes the band further into uncompromising territory—both musically and lyrically.
It features a strong roster of guest artists, including members of Burner, Cainhurst, Victim Unit, and of course, the ever-defiant HIRS – aka THE HIRS COLLECTIVE. Fans of Birds In Row, Dreamwell, Every Time I Die, PUPIL SLICER, The Callous Daoboys, and The Chariot will find plenty to love—and a lot to feel—in this uncompromising and cathartic release.
