The Heavy Hunt Has Started
This is what you call a sustained production pace… barely a year after delivering the two-track single EP ‘Upon Loss’ – which itself followed the EP ‘A Tear in The Fabric Of Life’ released eighteen months earlier alongside a short animated film – the Americans Knocked Loose are back at it with a new album released just a few weeks ago.
This new full-length opus from the heavyweights of the North American heavy-hardcore/mathcore/metalcore scene, titled You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To, was released on CD, LP & Digital via the consistently solid label Pure Noise Records (Chamber, COUNTERPARTS, Thoughcrimes, SEEYOUSPACECOWBOY, The Story So Far…).
The result, which holds its own against the strongest acts in the genre – bringing to mind the likes of Code Orange, Boundaries, Counterparts, END, Loathe, and Vein.fm – is now available in physical/digital formats here, as well as for full (unrelenting) streaming just below.
Deep Dive: Why This Matters
If you’re following the « heavy hunt, » Knocked Loose isn’t just a participant; they are currently the apex predator. This release is a landmark because it cements their position within the Pure Noise Records pedigree, a label that has become the gold standard for maintaining an underground edge while delivering mainstream-level production. By masterfully blending the chaotic, erratic signatures of mathcore with the « crowd-killing » grooves of traditional hardcore, the band has moved far beyond the polished « radio-metal » of the previous decade.
Much like their previous work on ‘A Tear in The Fabric Of Life,’ which utilized cinematic storytelling, this album proves they aren’t just loud for the sake of it – they are curated. Holding their own against heavyweight peers like Vein.fm and Code Orange, Knocked Loose is effectively redefining what « heavy » means for a new generation through a sound that is as experimental as it is abrasive.
