Inspired by the colossal storms that rage across Jupiter—a planet famed for its wild beauty and vastness—Jovian Storms immerses you in a sonic universe where powerful riffs blend with atmospheric synths, taking you on an intense cosmic journey.

It’s a small world, after all: more than 20 years ago, Flo and Thomas—two young musicians from Brest, France—were already united by a shared passion for alternative music and played together in their early days. Life eventually led them down separate paths, only to bring them back together years later through a strange twist of fate… in Montreal, Canada.

There, in a city shaped by creativity and cultural diversity, a new musical project was born—Jovian Storms. Rooted in post-metal and post-rock, the band explores sonic realms akin to those of Cult of Luna, Russian Circles, Isis, and Mono, infused with a synthwave edge reminiscent of Perturbator, and accented by touches of alternative, metal, and prog, evoking icons like Deftones and Tool.

Joined by drummer Marc, Jovian Storms officially came to life.

In 2023, the band released its debut single, « Call of the Void, » paving the way for their first full-length album, ‘Hexa’—a musical odyssey set in an alternate universe, where an eternal cold war leads to disastrous exploratory missions around Jupiter.

Barely a year later, Jovian Storms continues its post-whatever, sci-fi-inspired interstellar explorations—first with the single « Vagrant Signal, » followed by Umbra, an EP that marks a shift in perspective. This time, the journey turns inward and introspective, delving into the hidden corners of the human soul. A true dive into the ‘infinitely small,’ where emotion and introspection take center stage.

The recording of Umbra was defined by a search for balance between synthetic textures and heavy instrumentation. Under the guidance of Ariel Coulombe, the band experimented with new techniques—such as using two amplifiers simultaneously for the guitars—resulting in a uniquely rich sonic landscape. Tracks like « Sterenn Du » and « Neither Created Nor Destroyed » showcase this mastery, seamlessly shifting between ethereal melodies and powerful rhythms.

To elevate the EP, mastering was entrusted to Magnus Lindberg (Cult of Luna), whose work brought clarity and atmospheric depth to Umbra, enhancing its emotional weight. This collaboration helped bring out the full resonance of the band’s artistic vision—one that draws not only from musical influences but also from cinematic inspirations such as Blade Runner, Dune, and Arrival.

With Umbra, Jovian Storms offers a journey that is both musical and spiritual, where every note becomes a light in the darkness. Straddling the line between scientific wonder and human introspection, this new EP is sure to captivate both post-metal enthusiasts and dreamers in search of infinite worlds.
