A new chapter unfolds for Belgian dreamy alt-pop shoegazers Slow Crush with the upcoming release of ‘Thirst’, the band’s third full-length album, due August 29 via Pure Noise Records, home of bands such as Cloud Nothings, COUNTERPARTS, Drug Church, Knocked Loose, Samiam….
Known for blending the immersive textures of shoegaze with the raw energy of alternative rock, the quartet return with four tracks now unveiled—each revealing a deeper, more visceral emotional core. The title track “Thirst” pulses with urgency and longing, while “Bloodmoon” offers a more contemplative descent into darkness and vulnerability. Together with “Swoon” and “Blue,” these songs outline a record that feels heavier, more exposed, and unmistakably Slow Crush.
With four tracks now unveiled, the record’s emotional and sonic scope is coming into sharper focus: heavier, more vulnerable, and more grounded than ever.
Following the critical success of ‘Aurora’ (2018) and ‘Hush’ (2021), which solidified their place on the international shoegaze map, the band stepped away from the road to recalibrate creatively. Working with producer Lewis Johns at The Ranch in Southampton, U.K., they focused less on refining a formula and more on transformation. The result is an album that channels personal upheaval through distortion, atmosphere, and emotional weight.
At the center of ‘Thirst’ is what vocalist and bassist Isa Holliday describes as “the romance of being with a loved one”—a theme that explores both closeness and distance, emotional intensity and stillness. Her vocal takes, often captured through tears, imbue the songs with an unfiltered sense of vulnerability.
“We want people to let themselves go and feel embraced by the music, so that they can experience it in 4D,” Isa explains.
“We hear from people that our live shows and records take them somewhere else, and that’s what we want this album to do—allow them to pause and be present in the moment.”
With ‘Thirst’ and these four tracks, Slow Crush invite listeners into a soundscape that feels both immediate and timeless, a collision of weightless melodies and grounded emotion.
