6 years after their acclaimed 2019 album ‘New Hell’, American alternative-rock/post-shoegazers Greet Death return with ‘Die in Love’, planned for CD, LP & Diigtal release on June 27 via Deathwish Inc.. With a reshaped lineup and a broader emotional palette, the band appears to be in a more reflective—and even hopeful—space.
Recorded in vocalist/guitarist Harper Boyhtari’s childhood basement in Davisburg, Michigan, the album marks a tonal evolution. While their earlier work steeped itself in doom and despair, ‘Die in Love’ embraces love and loss as intertwined truths.
“At the end of the day, we’re lucky to lose people we care about,” Logan Gaval.
The new single, “Country Girl,” channels towering shoegaze textures while confronting themes of alienation, identity, and self-acceptance. “It’s like trying to solve a murder mystery and finding out you were the killer the whole time,” says Boyhtari, who came out as trans before the album’s recording. The song’s horror-referencing video—evoking The Fog, Halloween, and A Nightmare on Elm Street—would feel at home in the A24 universe.
