Some bands spend years searching for an identity. Lyon-based instrumental trio From Sand To Stardust arrived with a remarkably clear vision from the outset.

Formed in 2022, the band has quickly developed its own take on what it calls desert prog’n’roll — a fusion of fuzz-soaked desert rock, progressive (stoner) songwriting and cinematic atmosphere. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Elder, Yawning Man, Fatso Jetson, Oceansize and King Buffalo, the trio occupies a space where hypnotic grooves meet expansive sonic exploration.

Built on solid riffs, dynamic structures and immersive textures, From Sand To Stardust pushes beyond the traditional boundaries of stoner rock. Their music balances raw desert energy with progressive ambition, creating instrumental journeys that feel equally grounded and cosmic.

That approach was already evident on the band’s self-titled debut EP, released in 2024. Rather than relying on technical excess, the trio focused on atmosphere, movement and storytelling, demonstrating an ability to shift seamlessly from crushing heaviness to moments of celestial calm. The release established the foundations of a sound that continues to evolve while remaining immediately recognizable.

Today, one of the best entry points into the band’s world comes through their new video for « Carving Stone From Space ». Combining the groove-driven pulse and immersive dynamics that define From Sand To Stardust, the track offers a compelling glimpse into a band steadily carving out its own place within the heavy psychedelic and progressive underground.

For listeners drawn to instrumental music that values atmosphere as much as impact, and exploration as much as groove, From Sand To Stardust is a name worth keeping on the radar. Their latest video serves as an invitation to step into a universe where desert horizons stretch all the way to the stars.

This single is the first release from our upcoming second EP, set to drop in September 2026. The music video, directed by Joan Sabatier, plunges you into an esoteric odyssey between Earth and the cosmos.

It follows a mysterious silhouette, portrayed by performer Neko Hecate, moving through the solitude of a lunar landscape. (FSTS)
