4 years after their unexpected foray into alternative rock and shoegaze—stepping away entirely from the realms of heavy music with ‘Infinite Granite’ (released in 2021 via Sargent House)—Deafheaven returns to a harder-edged sound more in line with the post-black metal that first brought them acclaim, with a new single titled « Magnolia. »
The track offers a glimpse of what to expect from the San Francisco quintet’s upcoming sixth full-length studio album, Lonely People With Power, their first release since signing with heavyweight label Roadrunner / Warner’s Elektra Music Group (home to Code Orange, Gojira, and others).
Produced by Justin Meldal-Johnsen (known for his work with M83, Metric, The Armed…), the album is set for release on March 28 in both physical and digital formats.
