‘Fragile’, the mini-album / EP from Nantes (France) instrumental trio Avalanches, belongs to the latter. Patiently unfolding from moments of quiet restraint into towering walls of sound, the record embraces contrast rather than excess. Like the natural phenomenon from which the band takes its name, every movement feels deliberate and organic.

Rather than relying on technical exhibitionism, Avalanches focuses on atmosphere and dynamics. Each piece evolves naturally, building tension through repetition, texture and carefully measured crescendos. Without vocals, the music leaves room for listeners to create their own narrative, making each composition feel personal despite its scale.
The band’s identity reinforces that approach. Inspired by natural forces that inspire both fascination and unease, Avalanches explores the fragile nature of seemingly immovable things.
