Brutal. Experimental. Uncompromising. The underground collective steps fully into the spotlight.
After years of operating under the radar through their private fan club Sol Invicto Comiti, Sol Invicto — the elite experimental metal collective formed by Stephen Carpenter (Deftones, Kush…), Eric Bobo (Cypress Hill), Richie Londres (Cultura Londres Proyecto, Okujira…), and Dan Foord (SikTh) — has officially gone public with the release of their debut EP, ‘Loosely Aware’.
Released November 8, 2024 via Omyac Records, ‘Loosely Aware’ is a three-track assault of detuned riffs, industrial textures, and tribal percussive grooves, filtered through a cinematic and uncompromising lens.
The band – in the meantime joined by joined by UK Drum’n’Bass producer, Technical Itch – first teased the project with lead single « The Obvious Play », praised for its doom-laced djent riffage, glitchy percussion, and fierce guest vocals by Sean Plague (Plague to Pyres).
Inside ‘Loosely Aware’
-
“The Obvious Play” – An industrial metal call-to-arms, blending Carpenter’s low-slung riffs with pulsing electronics and Plague’s cathartic screams.
-
“Lost in Translation” – A hypnotic descent into sonic disorientation, where Bobo’s polyrhythmic congas collide with warping synths and twisted noise-djent.
- “Revelation of the Method” – A militant, percussive death march driven by Foord’s frenetic drumwork, it signals a band unafraid to take the long way through chaos.
“Loosely Aware represents years of relentless experimentation, sweat, and commitment to this project, It’s gritty, heavy, and gives listeners a taste of the chaos and beauty that define Sol Invicto.
This EP marks the beginning of a new chapter—and we’re just getting started.” (Richie Londres)
Sol Invicto isn’t new — they’ve just never played by the rules.
The band’s only prior release, ‘Initium’ (2017), was a private double album of experimental tracks issued solely to a select fan base through their closed community. Built outside of traditional studio cycles, the group’s philosophy is rooted in creative freedom, non-conformity, and sonic danger.
Now, with ‘Loosely Aware’, Sol Invicto has cracked open the door, offering the world a glimpse of the weight and precision they’ve cultivated in the shadows.
JUST DROPPED: “INITIUM” FT. ZACH HILL (2025)
To coincide with the EP highlight on scoreav.com, Sol Invicto has released “Initium ft. Zach Hill”, a 21-minute, structure-shattering concept track featuring the Bygones, Hella, Death Grips and Team Sleep drummer at his most volatile. Originally recorded in 2011 and shared only with fan club members, this full-length version is now available to the public for the first time—raw, unedited, and unrelenting.
“We don’t make music for the industry.
We make music for the people who hear in shapes and shadows.
“Initium » is for Jack, we are dedicating the track to a young fan with high-sensory autism who found a rare, transformative connection to Sol Invicto’s music.Because his story gave me the reason to carry on.” (Richie Londres)
