After six years of silence, cult French math-rock / post whatever four-piece TOTORRO – evolving around the corner of bands such as American Football, And So I Watch You From Afar, Covet, Delta Sleep, Giraffes? Giraffes!, Lite or toe. and standards – returns in full force with a double announcement: the release of their brand-new single “Bernard Guez”, and a 10th anniversary reissue of their seminal debut album ‘Home Alone’.
Known for their unique blend of playful energy, intricate arrangements, and narrative-driven compositions, TOTORRO has always stood apart in the instrumental scene. No vocals — just two guitars, bass, drums — and a dynamic sonic landscape that moves between math-rock complexity, cinematic emotion, and sheer joyful noise.
Their first album, ‘Home Alone’ (2014), catapulted the band from Rennes to international stages, with over 300 concerts across Europe, Japan, and North America. That record is celebrated as a genre-defying landmark — and it returns in 2025 as a vinyl reissue, with remastered audio and a fresh look at the album that started it all.
But TOTORRO isn’t just looking back — they’re writing the next chapter.
Their new single “Bernard Guez” marks the beginning of this next phase: a vibrant, explosive track that captures everything fans love about the band, while revealing new textures and maturity born from time and distance. It’s the first glimpse of a forthcoming third album, set to be released in autumn 2025.
As the band reconnects with their roots and each other, the creative spark is burning brighter than ever. “There’s a real pleasure in being together again,” says drummer Bertrand James.
“We’ve found that same trust and complicity, but we’ve also grown.”
