But for those who never heard about the band, let’s just give some context. Between 1998 and 2008, Nihil shook the French rock/post-metal scene — blending raw power with haunting emotion and electro-world vibes. Think somewhere between Deftones, Mogwai, Tool, Isis, and The Ocean.
What started as a simple compilation evolved into a full-blown artistic rebirth: ‘SYZYGY‘. Its first chapter, ‘APHELION’, is out now — a digital exclusive via Base Productions & Klonosphere. It reimagines NIHIL’s most iconic tracks with a modern, immersive sound — re-recorded, re-arranged, and remastered.
Not a comeback but a renaissance, a tribute to a decade of intensity, and a bridge to a new generation of listeners.
Since we disbanded in 2008, we have always kept a human connection, but the question of a reunion had not been raised until now. It was during a reunion with our former producer and booking agent in late 2023 that the idea took shape!
One rehearsal, then two, a few old tracks, and then quickly… the desire for something else, for new things, the excitement of creating again, and the machine was clearly relaunched!
We are delighted to return with this album and to be able to share music together again. We are also eager to get back on stage and meet the public once more… (Nihil)
