Latest Discovery at the Editorial Desk: Iress
The latest gem to catch our attention is Iress — a quartet hailing from the City of Angels and currently one of the most compelling names in the American doomgaze/slowcore metal scene. Emerging from the shadows in 2020 with their debut album ‘Flaw’, the band followed up three years later with the Solace’ EP, and just a few weeks ago, released their second full-length record: ‘Sleeping Now, In Reverse’.
This album — co-released by the labels Dune Altar (Ancestors, etc.) & Church Road Records (Heriot, Palm Reader, Svalbard,…) (Heriot, Palm Reader, Svalbard, etc.) — draws inspiration from the recent works of artists such as Emma Ruth Rundle, Frayle, Holy Fawn, PSYCHONAUT, Slowcrush, SOM, and Spotlights. The result is a compelling blend of atmosphere and intensity, now available in both digital and physical formats.
