Flashback : we mentioned them a few months ago on our Facebook page, following their completely self-produced debut release. Now, they’re back with a striking reissue, this time supported by Belgian labell P.O.G.O. records (Enola, Ghost:Whale, ils, LUGOSi…), We’re talking about the self-titled debut album by the French band : IN DER WELT.
Described as a post-metal memento mori, the album weaves its sound through influences as diverse as Will Haven, Neurosis, Cult of Luna, Oranssi Pazuzu, Slint, and Mogwai—an expansive spectrum within the genre. Re-released in CD and digital formats via P.O.G.O. Records, the album is now available in physical format [here], and can be streamed in full below.
“We aimed for something raw and unpolished—not overly produced—embracing the imperfections in our playing. We wanted to retain that 90s grunge rock spirit, which is part of all our musical DNA, while delivering something powerful, aggressive, yet also melodic and atmospheric.
The album’s concept centers on life and its inevitable end. The lyrics are grounded and based on real-life experiences.
We use a lot of samples—we love them. They help add a mysterious dimension, especially since we choose ones that echo our message and amplify it in their own way.”
