As we mentioned it a few weeks ago in our pages—now it’s finally here. Introducing ‘Blossom’, the latest sonic assault from UK band PUPIL SLICER. and the highly anticipated follow-up to their explosive 2021 debut album ‘Mirrors’.

Known for their fusion of mathcore, grind, noise, hardcore, and powerviolence, Pupil Slicer take things even further on Blossom, incorporating influences from genre-defying acts like Botch, Cult Leader, Death Goals, Frontierer, Sectioned and Yautja.

But this is no mere homage—the band forges their own identity, one defined by bold experimentation, technical precision, and raw emotional power.

Recorded over a month at The Ranch with producer Lewis Johns (Employed To Serve, Svalbard…), ‘Blossom’ came to life under extraordinary circumstances: none of the songs had been played through in full as a band before recording began. And yet the result is nothing short of extraordinary.

Across its runtime, ‘Blossom’ is a genre-smashing maelstrom: black metal, math-metal, indie-rock, trap beats, Auto-Tuned vocals, industrial noise, layered synths, and even egg shakers all collide in a breathtakingly cohesive sonic narrative.

Songs like « Momentary Actuality » shift from frenzied blast beats to soaring choruses with total confidence, while tracks such as « Departure In Solitude » and « The Song At Creation’s End » traverse sci-fi atmospheres, crushing grooves, and introspective post-rock passages. There’s slap bass, ambient textures, and glitchy electronics—every detail engineered with purpose, precision, and a touch of madness.

Where ‘Mirrors’ was an unrelenting assault, Blossom is expansive and multidimensional. It’s an album that disorients, dazzles, and ultimately captivates—one that reflects a band stepping fully into their own creative power. As vocalist/guitarist Kate Davies put it ahead of the release:

“This is a more confident record—we know who we are, and we’re not afraid to push every boundary.” (Kate Davies)

Blossom is available now on CD, LP, cassette, and Digital via Prosthetic Records & Trepanation Recordings ; with full physical and digital editions accessible here—and a complete stream just below.

Pupil Slicer have not only blossomed—they’ve exploded into something truly extraordinary. Dive in. There’s no turning back.
