Scottish progressive post-metal collective DVNE has always thrived on contrasts: moments of fragile introspection giving way to crushing, relentless intensity. With the digital release of ‘Live At The Biscuit Factory’ via Metal Blade Records, the band captures that energy in a setting that’s as intimate as it is electrifying.
Following the critical acclaim of their third album, 2024’s ‘Voidkind’, and an extensive European tour, DVNE wanted to immortalize the live power of some of their favorite tracks.
“We set things up to reflect the atmosphere of our rehearsals,” the band explains. “It’s a glimpse into how we come together as a band, and how much these songs mean to us.”
Over thirty-five minutes, the session moves seamlessly between atmospheric build-ups and bone-crushing riffs, drawing comparisons to post-metal giants ISIS, Neurosis, and Russian Circles, while hints of Gojira’s riff mastery and Tool-inspired vocals add unique flavor.
Opening with the ten-minute juggernaut « Eleonora », the band immediately asserts their command. « Abode Of The Perfect Soul » showcases their intricate contrasts, while the epic « Cobalt Sun Necropolis » closes the set with undeniable intensity, leaving listeners pressing repeat.
‘Live At The Biscuit Factory’ isn’t just a live session—it’s a statement. DVNE proves that translating the raw electricity of a stage performance to a recording is no easy feat, but when done right, it’s nothing short of majestic.
