Australian cinematic experimental/math rock project SEIMS has announced the release of their highly anticipated fifth album, ‘V’, due October 10 via Bird’s Robe Records (AUS) and dunk!records (EU). The first single, ‘Flowing Upstream’, is streaming now below on both video and audio versions.
Originally founded by multi-instrumentalist Simeon Bartholomew, SEIMS has steadily grown from a one-man studio project into one of Australia’s most inventive and internationally recognized experimental rock acts. Their 2020 release Four propelled them to new heights, with performances at ArcTanGent (UK), dunk!festival (Belgium).
Think about an hybrid creature of 65daysofstatic, And So I Watch You From Afar, Tangled Thoughts Of Leaving and sleepmakeswaves, ‘V’ expands SEIMS’ sonic language even further: odd-meter chaos meets sweeping orchestral passages, cinematic textures meet razor-sharp math rock precision.
The record was written & produced by Simeon, with engineering from Tim Carr (We Lost The Sea), mixing by Alex Wilson (sleepmakeswaves), and mastering by Jeff Lipton & Maria Rice at Peerless Mastering (Boston). The album features an all-star lineup including Chris Allison (Plini), Mark Owen (We Lost The Sea), Peter Hollo (Tangents/FourPlay), and more, creating a truly expansive and cinematic sound.
Simeon explains:
“SEIMS has always been about growth. With V, I wanted to push myself further – orchestrating strings and horns, experimenting with new forms, and balancing complexity with raw emotion. These songs are about embracing change, whether that’s personal growth, fatherhood, or facing the unknown.”
