Living is heavy weight
Although to be honest Don Broco was never really our cup of tea, their latest evolution might just be the ultimate game-changer. For the first time (and last ?), the Bedfordshire quartet has traded their alt-pop-rock polish for a gritty, seismic shift to the alternative-metal-tinged loud vibes.
Their comeback single “Cellophane” is a punchy statement of intent. Marking their debut on Fearless Records (At The Drive-In, Underoath…), the track is a full-throttle dive into the heavy breakdown. But beyond the sonic assault, “Cellophane” carries a emotional weight, capturing the universal anxiety of modern life with the haunting mantra: “Living is heavy weight”.
“’Cellophane’ is about realizing you’re not as tough as you thought. That maybe you mentally don’t have what it takes, but at the same time are afraid of getting the help you need.” (Don Broco)
By confronting the realization that you may not be as mentally tough as you once thought, Don Broco have found a way to create « order in chaos. » It is the perfect soundtrack of our Christmas/End Of The Year heavy workout sessions and for the first time, we are fully strapped in for the ride.
