Another time, another world. We’d already talked quite a bit about them back in spring 2020 (see below…) when they released their self-titled debut EP.
Three lockdowns and many concertless months later, the French low-tuned rock power trio New Favourite — featuring Alex (The Prestige) and Pierre (As We Draw) — are back with brand new material: a single and accompanying video titled “Godspeed”, available right below.
The track serves as a first glimpse of their upcoming EP, ‘Chasing Light’, recorded — like its predecessor — with Amaury Sauvé at The Apiary Studio (Birds In Row, Death Engine, PAST, TOEKAN…) and set for release on October 16.
‘Godspeed’ is straightforward and unpretentious — it really captures the transition between our two EPs. Simple but effective riffs, a powerful chorus featuring that octaver that’s now part of our signature sound, and full-band vocal harmonies.
The song is about ‘fair-weather friends,’ those people who stick around when everything’s going well but vanish the moment things get tough. To be honest, the Covid crisis made it pretty easy to spot them!”
